Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand until cool.
4 cups water, 2 cups oatmeal
Then add
½ cup shortening, ½ cup sugar, ½ cup molasses, 1 tsp salt, 1 compressed yeast
Make a soft sponge by adding flour
Let rise 2-3 hours.
Kneed hard by more flour and raisins
Let rise again and make into 3 loaves.
Bake slowly in 325° oven for 1 hour.
