Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars

Ingredients
- 3 cups flour unsifted
- 2 cups sugar divided
- 1 cup margarine softened
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ cup Karo syrup light
- 6 squares bakers semi-sweet chocolate (or German sweet chocolate)
- 4 eggs slightly beaten
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 2 ½ cups pecans chopped
Instructions
Crust
- Mix flour, ½ cup sugar, butter and salt until crumbly.
- Press in well greased 15 x 10 x 1 pan
- Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
Filling
- Stir syrup and chocolate over low heat until chocolate is melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in remaining sugar then eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in pecans.
- Pour filling over hot crust.
- Bake 350° for 30 minutes or until filling is firm around the edges and slightly soft in the center.
- Cool in pan.
