Dandy Caramel Dumplings

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar packed
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ½ tsp morton salt
  • 1 ¼ cups flour
  • cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Combine in 10 inch skillet bringing to boil stirring constantly.
    2 tbsp butter, 1 ½ cups brown sugar, 1 ½ cups water, ½ tsp morton salt
  • Remove from heat.
  • Sift together in mixing bowl.
    1 ¼ cups flour, ⅓ cup sugar, 2 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp salt
  • Cut in.
    2 tbsp butter
  • Combine ⅓ cup plus 1 tablespoon milk and vanilla.
  • Add to dry ingredients all at once and mix dough.
  • Heat caramel mix to boiling.
  • Drop by tablespoons into simmering sauce.
  • Cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes over low heat. Serve plain or with cream.
