Texas Sheet Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 2 sticks oleo
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs beaten
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Frosting
- 1 stick oleo
- 6 tbsp milk
- 4 tbsp cocoa
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 2 cups nuts chopped
Instructions
Cake
- Put olio, cocoa and water in pan and bring to rapid boil while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Mix together flour, sugar and cocoa mixture.
- Add other ingredients and blend until batter is smooth.
- Pour into greased and floured 11 x 17 pan.
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
- Frost immediately
Frosting
- In sauce pan, combine oleo, cocoa and milk.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Remove from heat and add sugar, vanilla and nuts.
- Spread on hot cake
