Peanut Butter Cookies
Peanut Butter Cookies
Henry Grunewald loved peanut butter cookies, and this is the recipe Liz Loescher would use to bake cookies for when he visited. The quantities are a double batch, since she always made this amount for him.
Ingredients
- 1 pound butter
- 1 c Shortening
- 2 c peanut butter
- 2 c sugar
- 2 c brown sugar packed
- 4 eggs
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 3 tsp soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 5 c flour
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugars
- Mix in eggs
- Combine dry ingredients and mix in
- Chill dough for 1 hour
- Roll into balls, dip a fork into sugar and press the ball with a criss-cross pattern
- Bake @ 375° 12-14 minutes

Rolled sugar cookies ideal for frosting and decorating
Ingredients
- 1 c powdered sugar
- 2 c flour
- 1 c butter
- 1 egg or 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp. Cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. soda mixed in 1tsp. sweet cream (whipping cream)
- 1 tsp almond
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions
- Mix – Chill – Rollout- cut
- Bake@ 350°

Alma Loescher's Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb vanilla wafers 2 1/2 Cups Crushed
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup brandy bourbon or rum
Instructions
- Crush vanilla wafers.
- Add powdered sugar, sifted with cocoa.
- Add chopped pecans and mix well.
- Stir in syrup and brandy.
- Roll into small balls, coating hands with additional powdered sugar.
- Let stand about 1 hour to dry slightly.
- Roll in powdered sugar
