Snowballs

Butter Balls / Snowballs / Russian Tea Cakes

Tasty with many different names,
Prep Time 30 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Total Time 2 hours

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound Butter
  • 4 Tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 c flour sifted
  • 1 c chopped nuts
  • 2 c powered sugar for rolling the cookies in after they are baked

Instructions
 

  • Cream butter & sugar till light & fluffy
  • Add vanilla
  • Add flour
  • Add nuts, mix well
  • Chill 30 min.
  • Shape into balls & bake on ungreased Cookie sheet @ 350. 15-18 Min..
  • Roll in Powdered sugar while hot.
  • Roll again in powder sugar when cool.

Notes

Use the same recipe for thumbprints. Press your thumb into the ball before baking. After cooled, add a drop of frosting to center

Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal

Oatmeal cookie with warm spices. Adding a Hershey's Kiss after baking adds a bit of chocolate and Christmas flair.

Total Time 2 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 c Butter
  • 1 c brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 c granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • c flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt optional
  • 3 c oatmeal
  • 1 bag hershey’s kisses optional

Instructions
 

  • cream butter & sugars until fluffy
  • mix in eggs & vanilla
  • mix in all rest leaving oatmeal until last
  • Bake 10-12 minutes @ 350°
  • Top with Hershey’s Kiss while hot out of the oven

Ingredients
  

  • 1 c powdered sugar
  • 1 c granulated sugar
  • 1 c butter
  • 1 c vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • Cream sugars, butter; oil. Beat in eggs & Vanilla. Add dry ingredients & mix well. Chill one hour.
  • Rollinto ball, flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar.
  • Bake @ 350° until edges start to turn brown
